Ideas de las madres sobre el desarrollo y educación de los niños

Abstract

Los padres tienen como tarea crear un mundo seguro, coherente y organizado con normas, reglas y valores en el cual el niño viva y se desarrolle. Los que se enfrentan con esta tarea tienen que resolver problemas y adoptar iniciativas múltiples. Para ello necesitan información y orientación que les ayude a tomar las decisiones más acertadas y a sentirse seguros en las actuaciones que afectan al proceso de salud, desarrollo y educación de sus hijos. El objetivo general de este estudio es conocer las ideas de las madres sobre el desarrollo en educación infantil, sus dudas, fuentes y necesidades de información. Aplicamos una adaptación del “Cuestionario de Ideas de los padres” (CIP) de Palacios (1988) a 72 madres que acudían a la consulta del programa del Niño Sano, en la Provincia de Sevilla. En este trabajo se analizan y presentan los resultados relativos a la información sobre crianza, desarrollo y educación de las madres, sus ideas sobre el calendario evolutivo, su capacidad percibida para influir en el desarrollo, sus atribuciones al comportamiento de los niños, sus valores, aspiraciones y expectativas y sus prácticas de crianza y educación.

To create a safe, coherent and organized world with norms, rules and values in which child develops, parents need information and guidance in order to help them to make the right decisions and feel confident in their choices, which affect children’s health, development and education. The aim of this study is to describe the mothers’ ideas about child development and education, their doubts, their sources and their needs for information. We applied an adapted version of the “Parent’s Ideas Questionnaire” (Palacios, 1988) to 72 mothers who went to the visits of the well-child program, in Seville. We analyze the results concerning the information about nurturing, development and education mothers’ ideas. We also analyze their ideas on the developmental milestones, their perceived capacity to influence the development, their attributions on the children’s behaviour, their values, wishes and expectations, as well as their nurturing and educational practices.
