La técnica Fotovoz aplicada a la docencia universitaria: su utilidad en el desarrollo de competencias

Abstract

Fotovoz es una técnica cualitativa de investigación social que tiene como finalidad empoderar a la sociedad mediante las fotografías, de ahí su inserción dentro de la metodología de investigación-acciónparticipación. Permite no solo identificar y analizar problemas sociales, sino también crear conciencia y su denuncia mediante un lenguaje universal: la imagen, posibilitando además que las propias personas formen parte de la identificación de soluciones. Aunque en sus inicios este proceso estaba principalmente enfocado hacia grupos sociales en exclusión, actualmente puede aplicarse a numerosas poblaciones y situaciones, incluyendo la docencia universitaria y el desarrollo de competencias. Partiendo del desarrollo del Proyecto de Innovación Docente “Las 4R de la sostenibilidad: reduciendo, reciclando, reutilizando, repensando” y, concretamente, en el abordaje transdisciplinar del ODS 12 “Producción y Consumo Responsable” en distintos grados y asignaturas de la Universidad de Extremadura, presentamos la técnica Fotovoz utilizada y su potencial no solo en la investigación de los fenómenos sociales, sino también en la docencia universitaria.

Photovoice is a qualitative social research technique that aims to empower society through photographs, hence its insertion into the action-participation research methodology. It allows not only to identify and analyze social problems, but also to raise awareness and report them through a universal language: the image, also allowing people themselves to be part of the identification of solutions. Although in its beginnings this process was mainly focused on excluded social groups, it can currently be applied to numerous populations and situations, including university teaching and the development of skills. Starting from the development of the Teaching Innovation Project “The 4Rs of sustainability: reducing, recycling, reusing, rethinking” and, specifically, in the transdisciplinary approach to SDG 12 “Production and Responsible Consumption” in different degrees and subjects at the University of Extremadura, we present the Photovoice technique used and its potential not only in the investigation of social phenomena, but also in university teaching.
