Flujos a través del muro (I): el contrabando

Abstract

Este capítulo trata sobre el contrabando en las poblaciones Rayanas de Portugal y España. El acercamiento y la apertura entre España y Portugal (a partir de 1974) y su posterior integración de ambos Estados en la Unión Europea (1986), junto con el cambio en las expectativas y en las aspiraciones de la gente y la emergencia de un nuevo contexto socioeconómico global han supuesto la quiebra de las actividades del contrabando tradicional en la frontera.

This chapter deals with smuggling in the Rayana towns of Portugal and Spain. The rapprochement and opening between Spain and Portugal (starting in 1974) and their subsequent integration of both States into the European Union (1986), together with the change in the expectations and aspirations of the people and the emergence of a new global socioeconomic context have led to the bankruptcy of traditional smuggling activities on the border.
