"También y Tampoco": origen y evolución

Abstract

En este artículo buscamos estudiar las formas españolas "también" y "tampoco" desde un punto de vista diacrónico. Empezamos con la descripción de aquéllos contextos en los que estas formas aparecen. Por lo que se refiere a también, nuestras conclusiones nos han permitido establecer su origen más allá del siglo XII en construcciones comparativas, alcanzando su independencia en el siglo XV. La forma tampoco es básicamente usada en el siglo XIV en estructuras como tan poco o cuanto poco... tampoco. Los problemas planteados por estas dos formas necesitan más investigaciones desde ese período.

In this paper, we seek to study the Spanish forms "también" and "tampoco" from a diachronic point of view. We begin with the description of those contexts in which these forms appear. Our conclusions have led us to take its origin further back to the 12th century in comparative constructions, reaching its independence from the 15th century on. The form tampoco is basely used in the 14th century in structures as "tan poco como" o "cuanto poco... tampoco". "También" and "tampoco", although they were born from different correlative structures at different times, constitute a binary set from the 15th century on. The problerns posed by these two forms need further research since that period.
