¿Voz media en latín?

Abstract

El latín, frente al griego y otras lenguas indoeuropeas, sólo dispone de dos morfemas para expresar la diátesis: "amat" / "amatur". Generalmente se piensa que la oposición de estas dos formas es una oposición activa / pasiva, y se niega la existencia de una voz media. El latín sólo dispone de dos formas, lo que nos induce a pensar que cada una de ellas cumple una y sólo una función: "amatur" podrá ser medio o podrá ser pasivo, pero sólo una de las dos cosas.

The latin, in front of the Greek and other Indo-European languages, has only two morphemes to express the diathesis: "amat" / "amatur". It is generally believed that the opposition of these two forms is an active / passive opposition, and it's denied the existence of a medium voice. The Latin just has two forms, which leads us to think that each of them meets only one function: "amatur" may be medium or may be passive, but only one of the two things.
