La función docente desde la mirada del profesorado

Abstract

La actividad docente del profesorado de la enseñanza no universitaria viene marcada por el malestar y el desánimo. El profesorado se siente deslegitimado y desautorizado por las familias, la Administración, los medios de comunicación, en una palabra, por la sociedad en su conjunto. Y, al mismo tiempo, se halla impotente ante esa situación ya que carece de las estrategias y herramientas necesarias para afrontarla positivamente. Ante esta realidad se hace urgente abrir la sociedad a un gran debate educativo, a fin de que se constituya ella misma como una comunidad educativa en la que todos los agentes con responsabilidad en la educación de las nuevas generaciones asumen su rol dentro de un proyecto ético.

The professional activity of non-university teachers is at present dominated by a feeling of frustration and depression. Teachers feel that they have less and less power and authority and that they are not supported by their pupils’ families, the Administration and the mass media, i.e. by society as a whole. Moreover, the teaching profession is impotent to deal with this situation as it lacks both the necessary strategies and tools with which to confront it positively. This state of affairs requires urgent action and society needs to begin a great debate about education with the objective of developing an educational community in which all parties with responsibility for the education of new generations accept their role within a new ethical project.
