Retornados. Ganaderos y agricultores extremeños con cualificación universitaria

Abstract

Retornados se sumerge en la vida de dos jóvenes extremeños, Gregorio García y Daniel Mellado, que tras finalizar sus estudios universitarios se ven en la necesidad de regresar al entorno rural de sus familias, para dedicarse al mundo de la agricultura y la ganadería.

A través de una serie fotográfica he documentado el estilo de vida que ambos mantienen. Durante cuatro días he compartido su oficio y he reflejado, a través de imágenes, la esencia del mismo.

Robert Frank, Henri Cartier-Bresson y Alberto Garcia Alix son los tres fotógrafos que me han servido de inspiración. He analizado sus trabajos para influenciarme, y con ello, enriquecer mi propio estilo fotográfico.

El proyecto cuenta también con una vertiente audiovisual. Los protagonistas, en voz en off, nos transmiten sus preocupaciones, esperanzas y desasosiegos. Sus voces están montadas sobre imágenes, en las que aparecen ellos y los entornos rurales en los que desarrollan sus actividades. El aspecto sonoro se complementa con temas musicales, sonidos ambientales y fragmentos de poesías que pertenecen al autor Extremeño, Luis Chamizo (1894-1945).

En el proyecto quedan reflejados ciertos aspectos importantes sobre la vida rural, como son costumbres, problemáticas, cultura popular, formas de vida, etc.

“Returnees” deal with the struggles of two young men from Extremadura, Gregorio García and Daniel Mellado, for surviving after finishing their University career. Thus, they see themselves forced to return to the rural life where they come from and to work as farmers.

By means of a set of photographs I have documented their lifestyles in the rural environment. Throughtout four days I have showed their proffesion and I have reflected its natural essence.

Robert Frank, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Alberto Garcia Alix are the three photographers who have been to me an inspiration. I have analyzed their work to influence myself, and hence, to enrich my own photographic style.

The project has also an audiovisual aspect. The protagonists, in voiceover, try to transmit their concerns, hopes and anxieties. Their voices are mounted on images in which they and the rural environment where their actitivites are carried out, appear. The sound feature involves musical themes, environmental sounds and poems´ passages that belong to an Extremadura autor called Luis Chamizo (1984-1945).

In this Project, certain relevant aspects of the rural are reflected, such as: customs, difficulties, popular culture, lifestyles, etc.
