Introducción y consolidación de los cuentos de Perrault en España

Abstract

El presente artículo expone la génesis y la consolidación de las traducciones en lengua castellana de los Cuentos de Perrault en el mercado español. Para ello, se han recopilado 37 ediciones que contienen un mínimo de siete de los ocho cuentos en prosa del autor francés, desde 1824, año de la primera traducción española, hasta 1975, año en que termina el franquismo. Se analizan los datos bibliográficos de las ediciones, las relaciones entre las diferentes ediciones, los diferentes cuentos que contienen los volúmenes y la variación y gradual homogeneización en los títulos de los cuentos. El estudio demuestra que la introducción de las traducciones de Perrault en España arranca de manera lenta y tardía, pero paulatinamente el autor y su obra maestra van siendo más conocidos, para convertirse en un verdadero clásico de la literatura infantil y juvenil en España a partir de los años treinta-cuarenta del siglo XX.

This article discusses the genesis and consolidation of the Spanish translations of Perrault’s fairy tales in Spain. Therefore, 37 editions have been compiled that contain a minimum of seven of the eight prose tales of the French author, from 1824, the year of the first Spanish translation, until 1975, marking the end of the Franco regime. The bibliographic data of the editions, the relations between the different editions, the different tales that are included in the books and the variation and gradual homogenization in the titles of the tales are analyzed. The study shows that the introduction of Perrault’s translations in Spain starts slowly and late, but gradually the author and his masterpiece become more known, and by the thirties-forties of the twentieth century, the tales have become a true classic of children’s literature in Spain.
