Un retablo del siglo XVI con pinturas de estilo toledano en Botija (Cáceres)

Abstract

Se analiza un interesante retablo, cuya avanzada arquitectura y relieves manieristas ejecutó, avanzada la década de 1560, un maestro entallador local que conecta con el estilo del palentino, Francisco Giralte, quien trabajó a mediados del siglo XVI en Ceclavín y Plasencia, para cuya catedral labró la estatua funeraria del obispo Ponce de León. La atractiva pintura del retablo, realizada por algún artista local de Trujillo o de Mérida, enlaza con el ambiente artístico toledano del mismo tiempo, con el que también se relacionó Giralte, que trabajó en la sillería del coro de la catedral primada a las órdenes de Alonso Berruguete.

An interesting altarpiece is analyzed, whose advanced manierists architecture and reliefs executed in the decade of 1560 a local sculptor teacher whom it connects with the style of Fran¬cisco Giralte, who worked in the middle of century XVI in Ceclavín and Plasencia, for whose catedral it worked the funeral statue of the bishop Ponce de Leon. The attractive painting of the altarpiece, made by some local artist of Trujillo or Mérida, connects with the toledan artistic style of he himself time, to which also it was related Giralte that it worked in the stalls of the choir of the primate cathedral to the orders of Alonso Berruguete.
