El papel de la mujer en el fotoperiodismo en la Guerra Civil española: Gerda Taro y Kati Horna

Abstract

Gerda Taro y Kati Horna, las cuales cambiaron el papel de la mujer dentro de un mundo controlado por hombres, retratan la España de la Guerra Civil española (17 de julio de 1936 – 1 de abril de 1939) mostrando la actividad de los soldados republicanos además de la vida cotidiana de los ciudadanos de a pie, estuvieran a favor de la II República o fueran ajenos a ella. Cada una de ellas lo muestran de la forma diferente, tanto por la temporalidad en la que visitaron España como la visión que tenían del propio conflicto bélico. Gerda Taro se centraría en el conflicto bélico persiguiendo fotografías del frente y de los milicianos; mientras que Kati Horna retrataría la sociedad española con sus estragos además de realizar fotomontajes sobre este hecho histórico. Esta investigación versa sobre el papel de estas dos mujeres que destacaron en este suceso bélico tanto por su trabajo como su activismo dentro de la Guerra Civil española.

Gerda Taro and Kati Horna, which changed the role of women in a world controlled by men, portray the Spain of the Spanish Civil War (July 17, 1936 - April 1, 1939) showing the activity of the Republican Soldiers in addition to the daily life of the ordinary citizens, they were in favor of the Second Republic or were alien to it. Each one of them shows it in a different way, both because of the temporality in which they visited Spain and the vision they had of the warlike conflict itself. Gerda Taro would focus on the war by pursuing photographs of the front and the militia; while Kati Horna would portray the Spanish society with its havoc in addition to making photomontages on this historical fact. This investigation is about role of these two women who stood out in this war event both for their work and their activism within the Spanish Civil War.
