La estandarización del euskera: breve historia y resultados

Abstract

Se exponen los antecedentes y el proceso de unificación ortográfica, estandarización ya normalización de la lengua vasca que ha tenido lugar estos últimos 50 años. La situación de partida era la de una lengua minoritaria y minorizada, de diglosia radical, represión política, desde la que, bajo la dirección lingüística de su propia Academia de la Lengua, la participación de la iniciativa popular y, posteriormente, del poder político recuperado tras la transición española, se ha logrado una estandarización prácticamente plena de la lengua y la recuperación de su uso social hasta unos niveles que lo convierten en punto de referencia para la recuperación de otras lenguas minoritarias y minorizadas a través de todo el mundo.
