Las excavaciones de Juan Cabré en Aliseda (1921)

Abstract

Entre los episodios desconocidos del Tesoro de Aliseda (Cáceres), descubierto accidentalmente a finales de febrero de 1920, el de las excavaciones realizadas en 1921 por Juan Cabré Aguiló en el lugar del hallazgo quizá sea uno de los más sorprendentes. Sin mención alguna a dicha actuación ni a sus resultados en la extensa bibliografía generada por este célebre descubrimiento, la presencia de Cabré en Aliseda posee un indudable interés historiográfico y arqueológico. En este sentido, puede decirse que, pese a las lagunas documentales existentes, las evidencias conservadas del paso de Cabré por Aliseda han contribuido, por un lado, a enriquecer la intrahistoria y la gestión de este conocido hallazgo; y, por otro, a recomponer el desaparecido paraje arqueológico de estas joyas señeras de la orfebrería orientalizante en el Mediterráneo occidental. If we look amongst the unknown episodes about Aliseda's Treasure (Caceres), which were accidentally discovered at the end of February 1920, we can conclude that the excavations carried out by Juan Cabre Aguilo in 1921 were one of the most surprising events. There is no mention of such excavation nor their results in the extensive bibliography generated by this famous discovery, but the presence of Cabre in Aliseda has an undoubted historiographical and archaeological interest. In this way, it can be said that, despite the existence of some gaps in the documentaries, the evidences conserved about Cabre in Aliseda have contributed, on one hand, to enrich the historical background and the management of this well-known finding. And, on the other hand, these evidences helped reconstruct the missing archaeological sited of this unequalled goldsmithing jewelleries in the Western Mediterranean. We would like to dedicate this to Concha Blasco, with our greatest affection and recognition to her work and teaching.
