| Abstract: | Las actividades bancarias del Barón de Mauá durante la primera mitad de la década de 1860 en el Plata y en Rio Grande do Sul estuvieron estrechamente relacionadas con el desarrollo del comercio en estas regiones. Este artículo propone analizar la conexión entre su red de sucursales y el comercio de ganado en la frontera sur de Brasil. The banking activities of the Baron of Mauá during the first half of the 1860s in the Plate and in Rio Grande do Sul were closely related to the development of commerce in these regions. This article proposes to analyze the connection between his branch network and the cattle trade on Brazil 's southern frontier. |
