The existing bibliography on the verbs ser and estar is very abundant. However, studies on ready-made phrases using ser and estar are less so. This paper presents a relatively large corpus of more than 250 phrases in order to analyse their behaviour. Thus, provisionally, it can be said that: - There are more phrases with esto:r than with ser. -There are more affirmative than negative phrases. -THe verb ser is highly productive with nouns. -The verb estar is very productive with adjectives. -The greatest creativity-and the shortest life- is that of the comparative structures. -The well-known -and disputed- frontier between "permanent" and "transitory" also differentiates these types of phrases. |
