La metáfora. Un punto de partida

Abstract

Análisis de la metáfora como figura de la Retórica utilizada para el ars bene dicendi, para conseguir belleza y expresividad en el discurso. Su estudio pertenece al plano de la elocutio. Según la teórica ovetense, la metáfora literaria es “el resultado de un proceso de interacción entre dos términos por el cual uno de ellos, siempre textualizado, pierde su propia referencia, la sustituye por la del otro, expreso o latente, y organiza su estructura semántica con rasgos de significado de ambos”. Tanto la construcción de la metáfora como su reconocimiento en el texto implican una determinada competencia por parte del autor y del lector.

Analysis of metaphor as a figure of Rhetoric used for the ars bene dicendi, to achieve beauty and expressiveness in discourse. Its study belongs to the plane of elocutio. According to the Oviedo theorist, literary metaphor is "the result of a process of interaction between two terms by which one of them, always textualised, loses its own reference, substitutes it for that of the other, express or latent, and organises its semantic structure with features of meaning from both". Both the construction of the metaphor and its recognition in the text imply a certain competence on the part of the author and the reader.
