| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | Romantic playwrights evoke or, more generally, imagine the medieval and Renaissance world. They do not intend to bring to the stage the real events of history, of which they only "capture the anecdote, the picturesque detail, but not its essence or its meaning. It is a pure pretext for putting on the stage characters - dress, voice, gesture - who, not at their root, but on their surface, are connected with the story". In this atmosphere they frame an imagined world of feelings and actions, a romantic conflict. That is why authors often draw their inspiration not from history, but from legend and literary tradition. | es_ES |
