Los dialectalismos extremeños en el "Diccionario de Autoridades"

Abstract

El Diccionario de Autoridades acoge entre sus lemas vocablos definidos como usuales en la «Provincia de Extremadura». Algunos de ellos se toman, en el siglo XVIII, por arcaís­mos del castellano que conservan su vitalidad en las hablas extremeñas. Los diccionarios de la Real Academia Española los asimilan y, los que consiguen superar los filtros de las nuevas ediciones, llegan al siglo XXI con la misma fuerza con la que se incluían en los repertorios originales. En este artículo se explica la importancia que tiene en los primiti­vos diccionarios académicos la inclusión de voces dialectales. A continuación, se analizan los términos caracterizados como extremeñismos, se explica la historia de cada uno de ellos y se valora su presencia en las sucesivas ediciones, hasta llegar a la de 2001. En las reflexiones finales se esbozan algunas cuestiones relacionadas con los campos semánticos mejor representados en el corpus académico en relación con Extremadura y sus posibles conexiones y parentescos con otras áreas del dominio peninsular.

The Dictionary of Authorities contains amongst its entries a number of tenns defined as common use in the «Province of Extremadura». Sorne of them where considered in the xvrn century as archaic words from Castilian Spanish that preserved their vitality in the speech of the region. These terms were assimilated by the early editions of the dictionar­ies of the Royal Spanish Academy, and the ones that managed to successfully overcome the filtering and selection of Lhe subsequenl publications, have arrived to the xx1 century with the same strength as they were included in the original repertories. This article al­tempts to explain the importance of the integration of dialectal terms in the elaboration of the primitive dictionaries of the Academy. Furthermore, it analyses the terms classífied as «extremeñisms» (i.e. from Extremadura), explaining the history of each of them and evaluates its presence in the successive editions up to the 2001. The final considerations of this article sketch a number of questions about the semantic fields best represented in the academic corpus related to Extremadura and their possible connections and relations with other areas of the peninsular domain.
