El aprendizaje cooperativo como propuesta de innovación en la enseñanza universitaria

Abstract

Son numerosos los estudios que demuestran la superioridad del aprendizaje cooperativo sobre la competición y la individualidad en todos los niveles educativos (Johnson, Maruyama, Johnson, Nelson y Skon, 1981). Sin embargo, a pesar de la cantidad de investigaciones que demuestran la eficacia de los métodos de aprendizaje cooperativo, en la universidad estos métodos de aprendizaje cooperativo. En palabras de Santos Guerra (1995) "existe una concepción rabiosamente individualista de la enseñanza universitaria". Para Chickering y Gamson (1991) uno de los principios básicos para lograr un aprendizaje óptimo entre los universitarios es fomentar la cooperación entre los estudiantes utilizando el aprendizaje cooperativo. En este artículo analizamos la importancia del aprendizaje cooperativo en la universidad y la necesidad de formar al profesorado en esta innovadora metodología.
