Abstract

En 1999 el Monasterio de Yuste recuperó, mediante subasta, un documento esencial para la reconstrucción de su historia y la pervivencia en la memoria de los monjes y personajes ilustres que hicieron posible la grandiosidad del retiro verato, así como un material que saca a la luz datos sobre arquitectos, pintores, escultores y plateros que trabajaron en alguna ocasión, a lo largo de los siglos, para el monasterio. En él se da cuenta de la historia del monasterio, su origen y desarrollo, la descripción del edificio y las modificaciones que sufrió a lo largo del tiempo, los reyes y nobles que patrocinaron obras o entregaron bienes, los religiosos que vivieron en él y las posesiones y rentas que obtenían de los distintos lugares que pertenecían a la orden.
