El Partido Comunista de España en Extremadura durante el Frente Popular: República y Guerra (1936-1939)

Abstract

La investigación doctoral pretende analizar la organización interna y la evolución política del Partido Comunista de España en Extremadura durante el primer semestre de 1936 y la Guerra Civil. Los dirigentes y afiliados de este partido político, la elaboración y puesta en marcha de sus líneas políticas antes y después del 18 de julio de 1936, la relación con otras fuerzas políticas y sindicales (especialmente con el Partido Socialista Obrero Español y la Unión General de Trabajadores) tanto en los meses del Frente Popular como durante la Guerra Civil, el impacto del inicio del conflicto bélico (verano y otoño de 1936), las iniciativas adoptadas ante el nuevo contexto histórico y geográfico supone la clara delimitación de una Extremadura republicana a partir de noviembre de 1936 hasta mediados de julio de 1938 (reducción territorial a la mitad del territorio extremeño), la situación del PCE en Extremadura y su política en la última fase de la Guerra Civil (agosto de 1938 hasta el 1 de abril de 1939) serán algunas de las temáticas centrales de nuestro estudio.

This doctoral thesis aims to analyze the internal organization and the political evolution of the Spanish Communist Party in Extremadura during the first six months of 1936 and the Spanish Civil War. Some of the main topics of this research will be: the leaders and rank and file of this political party; the formulation and setting in motion of its political aims and objectives before and after 18 July 1936; its relationship with other political and trade union forces (especially with the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party – Partido Socialista Obrero Español- and the General Union of Workers) during the months of the Popular Front and the Civil War itself; the impact of the onset of the war (summer and autumn of 1936); the initiatives adopted in the new geographical and historical context which led to a clear shrinking of republican Extremadura from November 1936 until mid-July 1938 (loss of half of Extremadura’s territory); the situation of the PCE (Spanish Communist Party) in Extremadura and its political aims in the final stages of the Civil War (August 1938 until 1 April 1939).
