Conductismo y funcionalismo comunicativo: convergencia terminológica y divergencia semántica

Abstract

Cuando una hipótesis científica se echa a andar, pugna por encontrar su propio camino, su modo y medio de expresión. Así ocurre entre los componentes de la escuela behaviorista, que, al profundizar en el tema que les es común, busca cada cual la voz que más fielmente traduce su idea, su matiz particular -y de no hallarla, la forma-, y pasa también que, partiendo de puntos de vista distintos, usan unas mismas palabras en contextos necesariamente diferentes, y por consiguiente con distintos significados. De este modo la riqueza de pensamiento suele verse a menudo contrarrestada por la ambigüedad terminológica que dificulta su comprensión.

When a scientific hypothesis gets underway, it struggles to find its own path, its mode and means of expression. This is the case between the components of the behaviorist school, which, by delving into the theme that is common to them, seeks each like the voice that most faithfully translates your idea, your particular nuance -and if you don't find it, form-, and it also happens that, starting from different points of view, they use the same words in necessarily different contexts, and therefore with different meanings. In this way the wealth of thought is often seen often offset by terminological ambiguity that makes it difficult to understand.
