Reforma y conquista: en torno a Martin Lutero

Abstract

No hay en los escritores de crónicas, cercanos al Descubrimiento, noticias sobre Lutero. Este hace su aparición en la actividad historiográfica y literaria de la segunda mitad del siglo XVI entre frailes preparados, miembros algunos de ellos fundadores de los principales establecimientos novohispanos. El temor al protestantismo se palpa en las obras de los misioneros, por tanto hay que advertir sobre la necesidad de prevenir el “contagio” de la heterodoxia en América gracias el influjo de esas corrientes en los indígenas. Es en este ambiente en el que la figura de Lutero es utilizada con el fin de ser antítesis de los valores católicos.

There is no news about Luther in the chronicle writers, close to the Discovery.
