Violencia y justucia en los territorios extremeños de las Órdenes Militares de Santiago y Alcántara (siglos XVI-XVIII)

Abstract

Las actitudes violentas y las acciones conflictivas han estado y están presentes en cualquier sociedad, tanto en su pasado más remoto como en su presente más actual. Por ello, esta tesis doctoral pretende abordar el análisis de la violencia y la conflictividad social ocurrida en los territorios extremeños de las órdenes militares de Santiago y Alcántara a lo largo de los siglos XVI-XVIII, así como la administración de justicia llevada a cabo, principalmente, por gobernadores y alcaldes. En consecuencia, nuestro objetivo es profundizar no solo en el conocimiento de las conductas delictivas más representativas, sino también en las motivaciones del crimen y en el control y la represión del delito.

Violent attitudes and conflicting actions have been present, and are, in any society, both in its remote past and its present. In this sense, this thesis aims to analyze both violence and social conflict in the Extremaduran territories of the military orders of Santiago and Alcántara throughout the 16th and 18th centuries. In addition, the administration of justice carried out, mainly, by governors and mayors will be explored. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study the knowledge of the most representative criminal behavior, the motivations of crime and the enforcement of justice.
