La categoría «número» en palabras no numerales del latín clásico

Abstract

El estudio de la categoría número de Latín clásico, muestra a esta, como a otras categorías gramaticales con un significado muy general a nivel lingüístico. Es en la interpretación, a nivel de discurso, cuando pueden aparecer diferentes sentidos concretos. Estos sentidos concretos dependen y son comprendidos por el hablante a partir de diferentes factores: el significado de la palabra, la escritura del autor, el género literario. Es, finalmente, el contexto, cercano o lejano, el que determina los sentidos, en los que se fragmenta el valor que la oposición de número tiene en el lenguaje. En este trabajo se hacen varias propuestas sobre los distintos usos concretos de la categoría número en latín.

The study of the category •number is not numerative words from classical Latin shows that this category as other grammatical categories, has only a very general meaning, at language level lt is in the performance, at speech level when differents concrete senses may appear. These concrete meanings depend on and are understood by the speaker hecause of different factors: the meaning of the word, the author's writing, the literary genre. It is, finally, the context, whether near or far off, what determines senses, in which the value that the opposition of number has in language is fragmented. In this paper severa!l proposal are made ahout the dífferent concrete uses of the category number in Latin.
