Actitudes de una muestra de adolescentes ante el suicidio

Abstract

El objetivo del presente estudio fue conocer las actitudes ante el suicidio de una muestra de adolescentes, de ambos géneros, alumnos de 1º y 2º de Bachillerato. Para ello, se aplicó un cuestionario de veinte items, diez de los cuales estaban directamente relacionados con el tema del suicidio. Los datos obtenidos nos permiten llegar a algunas conclusiones. Primera, hay una tendencia claramente mayoritaria en los sujetos de la muestra a rechazar el suicidio como solución a los problemas. Segunda, ante los intentos de suicidio de una persona, creen que los demás deben intervenir para evitarlo. Tercera, la mayoría no reconoce en sí mismos pensamientos o intenciones de suicidio. Cuarta, se inclinan a favor de la eutanasia. Quinta, en aquellos items en los que se da diferencia significativa de medias entre chicos y chicas, éstas muestran un mayor rechazo hacia el suicidio que los chicos

The objective of this study was to know the attitudes towards suicide of a sample of adolescents, of both genders, students of 1st and 2nd year of Baccalaureate. For this, a questionnaire of twenty items was applied, ten of which were directly related to the topic of suicide. The data obtained allow us to reach some conclusions. First, there is a clearly majority tendency in the sample subjects to reject suicide as a solution to problems. Second, in the face of a person's suicide attempts, they believe that others should intervene to avoid it. Third, most do not recognize in themselves suicidal thoughts or intentions. Fourth, they lean in favor of euthanasia. Fifth, in those items in which there is a significant difference in means between boys and girls, the latter show a greater rejection of suicide than the boys
