Apuntes sobre una familia de canteros extremeños del siglo XVI: los Moreno

Abstract

El artículo describe la introducción de artistas locales en torno a las grandes construcciones en Extremadura en el siglo XVI, arropados por la figura del maestro y de algunos oficiales experimentados, donde se formarán focos artísticos (Alcántara, Llerena, Trujillo, Zafra, Plasencia…) y en los que surgirán maestros extremeños. Algunos alcanzarán cualificaciones superiores y llegarán a trazar y a dirigir obras; el aprendizaje no es teórico, sino experimental y que por razones económicas se actuará a veces en grupos familiares, como los Moreno, objeto de este artículo con aportaciones biográficas a esta familia.

The article describes the introduction of local artists around the great constructions in Extremadura in the sixteenth century, surrounded by the figure of the master and some experienced officers, where artistic foci will be formed (Alcántara, Llerena, Trujillo, Zafra, Plasencia ...) and in which Extremadura masters will emerge. Some will attain higher qualifications and go on to draw up and direct works; the learning is not theoretical, but experimental and that for economic reasons will sometimes act in family groups, such as the Moreno, object of this article with biographical contributions to this family.
