Los adolescentes extremeños e Internet: para qué lo utilizan

Abstract

Esta comunicación recoge una investigación realizada entre adolescentes extremeños, tanto del entorno urbano como rural de ambas provincias de la Comunidad Autónoma. El objetivo de la misma hace referencia al estudio de los hábitos de estos jóvenes en relación al empleo de Internet, en términos del tiempo que dedican y la utilidad que le encuentran a la Red; así como, el control de los padres ante dicho uso por parte de sus hijos. Los datos han sido obtenidos a través de una serie de entrevistas, completadas por jóvenes de entre 11 y 19 años. Se les preguntó acerca del tiempo que permanecían conectados a Internet, para qué utilizaban este instrumento y el control de sus padres ante su utilización. Su valoración fue bastante similar en la mayor parte de los casos, obteniéndose unas respuestas muy homogéneas en la variable uso y también en la de control paterno.

This paper presents a study carried out among adolescents from Extremadura, both in urban and rural areas of both provinces of the Autonomous Community. The objective of the study refers to the study of the habits of these young people in relation to the use of the Internet, in terms of the time they dedicate and the usefulness they find to the Internet; as well as the control of parents before such use by their children. The data has been obtained through a series of interviews, completed by young people between 11 and 19 years old. They were asked about how long they were connected to the Internet, what they used the tool for, and their parents' control over their use. Their assessment was quite similar in most cases, obtaining very homogeneous responses in the use variable and also in the parental control variable.
