"Valentina desdeñosa" o "Escena de cocina"

Abstract

José Bermudo Mateos, el “Pintor Bermudo”, nace en Huertas de Ánimas, Trujillo (Cáceres), el 9 de Noviembre de 1853. Participa activamente en el ambiente cultural de su época, contribuyendo en gran medida al florecimiento de la pintura extremeña de finales del siglo XIX, no sólo en España, sino en Europa y América. Formará parte de numerosas exposiciones nacionales e internacionales, gozando de la simpatía de los artistas y la crítica de su generación. En este sentido, hemos localizado de una nueva obra, “Valentina desdeñosa” o “Escena de cocina”, un óleo sobre lienzo de gran tamaño, que nos ha llevado a investigar el lugar y motivo por el que se realizó, la técnica y temática utilizadas, así como las posibles influencias y exposiciones en las que fue presentada,hasta llegar a ser vendida en Bilbao a principios de siglo XX.

José Bermudo Mateos, the “Painter Bermudo”, born in Huertas of Ánimas, Trujillo (Cáceres), on November 9, 1953. Actively participates in the cultural environment of his time, greatly contributing to the flowering of painting Extremadura late nineteenth century, not only in Spain, but in Europe and America. Be part of numerous national and international exhibitions, is receiving the sympathy of the artists and critics of his generation. In this sense, we have located a new painting, “Valentina dismissive” “Kitchen Scene”, oil on large canvas, which has led us to investigate where and why it was made, the techniques and themes used and the possible influences and exhibitions which it was presented, to become sold in Bilbao in early twentieth century.
