La imagen de México en las Exposiciones Universales de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX

Abstract

A lo largo de estas líneas la autora pretende acercarnos a la imagen de México desde una óptica diferente, es decir, la imagen que los mexicanos quisieron dar de sí mismos, como nación moderna e independiente, a través de las Exposiciones Universales de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, fundamentalmente en la época del Porfiriato (1876-1911). Primero analizaremos la arquitectura, a través de los pabellones que se realizaron para las diferentes muestras y, a continuación, nos acercaremos a algunas de las obras pictóricas que allí se expusieron y los representaron.

Throughout these lines, the author aims to approach the image of Mexico from a different perspective, that is, the image that Mexicans wanted to give of themselves as a modern and independent nation, through the Universal Exhibitions of the second half of the 19th century, mainly during the Porfiriato period (1876-1911). First we will analyse the architecture, through the pavilions that were built for the different exhibitions, and then we will look at some of the pictorial works that were exhibited there and represented them.
