Evidence is submitted in defence of the plausibleness of the hypothesis that the word alcotin (that appears twice in the so-called manuscript B of El Buscón) originated from the word «coti» (from Arabic QUTi, that is, «of the Goths»), a variety of fig. The possibility that alcotin may mean «fig bread» is also defended. |
