La tierra de Galisteo (c.1375-c. 1425): transformaciones del poblamiento y apropiaciones ilegales

Abstract

La tierra de Galisteo cuenta a mediados del siglo XIV con numerosas aldeas de escasa entidad demográfica. En la segunda mitad del siglo XIV, muchas se despueblan debido a la dinámica demográfica y a la presión ejercida por oligarquías de ciudades y villas comarcanas. En el primer cuarto del siglo XV, estos intentos de apropiación quedan abortados por la intervención real y por la entrega de Galisteo a los condes de Castañeda (1430). Los despoblados se convierten en comunales y dehesas.

Galisteo's land holds, by the middle of 14th century numerous but little populated villages. In the second half of the 14th century, many villages become depopulated, due to the demographic dynamics and the pressure exercised by oligarchies from the cities ofthe region. In the first quarter of the 15th century, these attempts of appropriation are aborted by the royal intervention and also because of the Galisteo's donation to the Counts of Castañeda. The depopulated areas will turn into communal lands and dehesas.
