Evolución de los menores tras la adopción. La familia adoptiva como figura de apego y contexto de reparación

Abstract

Los estudios sobre adopción señalan la incidencia de trastornos de apego en los menores adoptados como consecuencia de su historia previa y su exposición a situaciones de negligencia y/o maltrato, institucionalización, etc. Pero, también señala la posibilidad de compensar estas deficiencias a través del establecimiento de nuevas figuras de apego. A partir de los resultados de un estudio realizado con 89 familias que adoptaron menores en España, tras varios años de convivencia con sus hijos, se analiza la evolución en la construcción de vínculos afectivos entre padres e hijos, incidiendo en las dificultades que se producen en el proceso adoptivo y en el papel de la familia adoptiva como nueva figura de apego que, mediante su respuesta sensible a las necesidades del menor, y el establecimiento de vínculos afectivos seguros, favorece la reparación de las secuelas presentadas por los menores. Los resultados de esta investigación permiten concluir una evolución positiva en la superación de las dificultades encontradas en el proceso adoptivo en la mayoría de las familias y en el establecimiento de vínculos afectivos con sus hijos. Finalmente se concluye sobre la necesidad de potenciar Servicios de Apoyo Post-adoptivo que permitan detectar las dificultades y apoyar a las familias en el proceso.

The adoption research considers the effect of attachment disorders in adopted minors as a consequence of their previous history and their exposure to situations of negligence, mistreat, institutionalization, etc. But, it also points out that there is the possibility of offsetting these deficiencies by means of the establishment of new figures of attachment. From the results of a study realized with 89 families that adopted minors in Spain, the evolution of the construction of emotional ties between parents and children after several years living together is analyzed, insisting on the difficulties that take place in the adoptive process and on the role of the new family as a new figure of attachment which, through its sensitive response to the minor’s needs and the establishment of secure emotional ties, favours the recovery from the sequelae presented by the minors. The data of the research show a positive evolution in the majority of the families regarding the overcoming of the difficulties found during the adoptive process and the establishment of emotional ties with their children. Finally, it is concluded that it is necessary to promote Post-adoption Support Services that would enable to detect the difficulties and to support the families during the process.
