This paper proposes a survey through the representations of torture in the post-dictatorship Spain. During the last years of Franco´s regime, an important part of the anti-Franco’s activity was based on the struggle for human rights and against the torture. So, it is striking that, during the democratic period, the torture has been invisible in spite of the negative reports by human rights organizations and institutions against torture. We examine how, during the last four decades, a form of invisibility that hides the torture and formulates in a Manichean way the ethical implications of the problem has been constructed.
