E. Spenser en "Amoretti" y "Epithalamion": El poeta y el hombre

Abstract

En la literatura inglesa el soneto no ha ocupado, cuantitativamente hablando, el lugar destacado que le ha correspondido en otros ámbitos literarios, tales como el italiano o el español. La falta de relevancia cuantitativa y el escaso número de sonetistas, se compensa, con creces, cualitativamente hablando, en diversos períodos literarios y, de forma especial, en el Renacimiento. La época isabelina produciría en Inglaterra el corpus de sonetos más notables de toda la literatura británica. Sidney (1554-86), Spenser (1552-99) y Shakespeare (1564-1616) dedicarían su genio y capacidad creadora a este tipo de composición con logros indiscutibles.

In the English literature the sonnet has not busy, quantitatively speaking, the prominence that it has fallen in other areas such as the Italian or Spanish one. The lack of quantitative relevance and the limited number of sonetistas, is offset by far, qualitatively speaking, in various literary periods and, in a special way, in the Renaissance. The Elizabethan epoch would result in England the corpus of sonnets most notable of all the British literature: Sydney (1554-86), Spenser (1552-99) and Shakespeare (1564-1616) devoted his genius and creative capacity to this type of composition with indisputable achievements.
