Levantamiento y estudio patológico del Castillo de Nogales

Abstract

El Castillo de Nogales está en el suroeste de España, cerca de la frontera portuguesa. Fue construido por la familia Suárez de Figueroa entre 1458 y 1464. Tiene interés arqueológico y tanto su cronología como la identidad de sus constructores son bien conocidas. No ha sido transformado en periodos posteriores, y se ha conservado de forma excelente con sus características iniciales, siendo, por esta razón, un buen modelo de referencia para el estudio de la arquitectura militar en el Reino de Castilla a mediados del siglo XV. Es concéntrico y simétrico, con la torre del homenaje en el centro del mismo, es bastante inusual en España.

Nogales Castle, in the South West of Spain, near from the Portuguese frontier. It was built by the Suárez de Figueroa family betwen 1458 and 1464. It has archeological interest that both his cronology and the identity of his builders are well-known. It has not been transformed in later periods, and it has been conserved in excellent original conditions, being for this reason, a good reference model for the study of the military architecture in the Kingdom of Castile in mid XVth century. It is concentric and symmetrical, with the tower of tribute in the middle of it, it is rather unusual in Spain.
