Abstract

Canito y su gata Peladilla es un cómic publicado en la revista Crónica entre 1934 y 1937. Narra las aventuras de un niño y su gata en distintos escenarios y situaciones: Hollywood, el salvaje oeste, México, el País de los Cuentos, las estrellas… La condición de mujer de su autora, la artista Francis Bartolozzi Sánchez, hace que esta obra sea probablemente la primera gran serie de cómic hecha por una mujer en España. El artículo analiza los principales aspectos de esta obra: influencias, estilo, argumentos, implicaciones ideológicas… y lo pone en relación con otros trabajos tanto de Francis como de otros autores de los años treinta.

Canito and his little cat Peladilla is a comic published in the magazine Crónica between 1934 and 1937. The comic tells the adventures of a child and his little cat in different scenarios and situations: Hollywood, the Wild West, Mexico, the land of tales, the stars… The author being a woman, the artist Francis Bartolozzi Sánchez, probably makes this work the first big comic series produced by a woman in Spain. This paper analyses the main characteristics of this series of comics; influences, style, argu¬ments, ideological implications… and connects these aspects to other pieces of work written by both Francis and other authors in the 30’s.
