Amores, interpretaciones y miradas. La intelectualidad franquista ante lo ibérico en los años cuarenta

Abstract

Desde una perspectiva histórico-literaria, el trabajo planteado se propone rastrear los fundamentos ideológicos en torno al mito de lo ibérico presentes en determinadas figuras de la intelectualidad franquista, todas ellas de primera línea, así como su repercusión en las relaciones diplomáticas entre las dos naciones peninsulares en la década de los cuarenta. Para ello se repasan los precedentes directos del pensamiento iberista asumido y fagocitado por ambas dictaduras, desde el regeneracionismo de Ganivet a la integración de Sardinha. Todo este material ideológico fue particularmente tratado y desarrollado por figuras de relevancia en el ámbito cultural más próximo a la dictadura militar acaudillada por Francisco Franco. En este sentido, sobresalen las figuras de Eugenio d´Ors y sus abundantes glosas a propósito de Portugal; la labor y pensamiento de Eugenio Montes sintetizadas en su Interpretación de Portugal de 1944; el lirismo de Pedro de Lorenzo en Y al oeste Portugal de 1946; o el lusitanismo de Ernesto Giménez Caballero, al servicio de la exaltación franquista en Amor a Portugal de 1949. Se enfoca con ello un corpus literario más extenso, largamente celebrado por el oficialismo de ambos regímenes, que ofrece un pensamiento cerrado y dirigido al servicio de los intereses diplomáticos de dos regímenes dictatoriales. Su conocimiento, al margen de consideraciones éticas y estéticas, se nos revela fundamental para el correcto análisis de las relaciones literarias hispano-portuguesas en la década de los cuarenta y su repercusión en las élites culturales y de poder.

From a historical and literary perspective, the proposed work aims to trace the ideological foundations around the myth of the Iberian in certain figures of the Franco´s intelligentsia, and its impact on diplomatic relations between the two nations in the forties. Certain precedents of this movement were assumed and phagocytosed by both regimes, from the regenerativism of Ganivet to integralism of Sardinha are reviewed. This ideological material was treated and developed in the cultural field next to the military government under the dictatorship of Francisco Franco. In this sense, projecting figures Eugenio d'Ors and his abundant ‘glosas’ about Portugal; the work and thought of Eugenio Montes synthesized in his Interpretación de Portugal (1944); the lyricism of Pedro de Lorenzo in Y al oeste Portugal (1946); or the lusitanism of Ernesto Giménez Caballero, serving Franco´s exaltation in Amor a Portugal (1949). It focuses thereby more extensive literary corpus, long held by the ruling of the two schemes, offering a closed directed thought and diplomats serving the interests of two dictatorial regimes. Regardless of ethical and aesthetic considerations, know this particular discourse is essential for the proper analysis of the Spanish-Portuguese literary relations in the forties and their impact on the cultural elites and power.
