| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | The continuous increase in restrictions on the use of chemicals requires the research of sustainable and economically feasible alternatives. In this work, we have studied the technique of biodisinfestation under controlled and field conditions, using different organic amendments for the control of Phytophthora nicotianae, the causal agent of root and crown rot in pepper crops for paprika in the region of Extremadura. On the one hand, Brassica carinata pellets showed their toxicity on mycelium and chlamydospores of P. nicotianae under in vitro conditions at different temperature regimes. However, in subsequent trials under controlled and field conditions with spring soil temperatures, the dose of 3 t/ha of pellets did not shown satisfactory results when the pellets were incorporated into a natural soil without disinfection, probably due to the rapid degradation of toxic compounds by soil microbiota. On the other hand, the results obtained show that biodisinfestation using 20 t/ha of rice bran or 20 t/ha of rapeseed cake is an effective practice for the control of the disease, in spite of the fact that soil temperatures reached during the treatment were not high enough to thermally inactivate the inoculum. The chemical and microbiological changes that occur in the soil during the decomposition process of the organic matter under anaerobic conditions were associated to the success of the technique. It was concluded that biodisinfestation in spring season can be an effective alternative to chemical treatments. | es_ES |
