Sostenible vs. sostenido

Abstract

La gestión medioambiental, lejos de concebirse como un alegato a lo verde o a lo paisajístico, se entiende como una pura herramienta de gestión necesaria y rigurosa. Eso significa que el medio ambiente ha pasado de ser un campo exclusivo de los naturalistas a tenerse que compartir como vehículo para velar por el comportamiento sostenible y respetuoso del sector industrial. Ante esta nueva era de la concepción del medio ambiente, las preocupaciones que en estos momentos atiende la Junta de Extremadura se distribuyen en tres bloques diferentes: educación ambiental, conservación de la naturaleza y el proyecto global de evaluación y calidad ambiental. Con esas tres bazas, la Junta de Extremadura debe dibujar un panorama en el que, previsiblemente, tenemos delante de nosotros el reto de conseguir metas que no se pueden deslocalizar. En un mercado global, si algo adquiere valor por no moverse, es decir, por ser lo que siempre ha sido sin variación, es justamente el medio natural. Como consejero estoy convencido de que, si sabemos gestionar bien nuestro patrimonio natural, sin falsedades ni hipocresías sobre determinados gestos o iniciativas industriales que son necesarios para la vida digna en una zona, y, además, no dudamos a la hora de exigir mayores requisitos que nos garanticen el respeto al medio, probablemente, digo que estoy convencido de que los extremeños tenemos ante nuestras manos una de esas grandes herramientas que pueden hacer cambiar el concepto que de los extremeños y de Extremadura se tiene fuera de nuestra región.

Environmental management, far from being considered as a claim to what is green or to what relates to the landscape itself, is understood as a necessary and rigorous management tool. This means that the environment has changed from an exclusive field of the naturalists, to a shared vehicle that guards the sustainable and respectful behaviour of the industrial sector. Faced with this new era of the idea of the environment, the Junta de Extremadura is now dealing with several concerns that are distributed in three different blocks: environmental education, conservation of the nature and the global evaluation project and environmental quality. Taking into account those three advantages, the Junta de Extremadura must create a panorama in which, predictably, we have before us the challenge of achieving goals that cannot be forgotten. In a global market, if something acquires value for not being moved, that is to say, because of its invariability, it is precisely, the natural means. As a counsellor myself, I am convinced that if we manage our natural patrimony properly –without falsehoods nor hypocrisies on given facts or necessary industrial initiatives for worthy living in a zone– and, furthermore, if we do not doubt when we have to demand greater requirements that guarantee us the respect for the environment, I affirm that I am convinced that the Extremenians have a great opportunity that will allow them to change the views that others outside of our boundaries have about Extremenians and Extremadura.
