De lo sagrado a lo político: el inexplorado debate Gauchet-Girard

Abstract

Indudablemente, puede localizarse en la obra de Girard el embrión de una antropología y de una teoría política. Sus desarrollos concretos, en cambio, brillan por su ausencia. Hay en Girard mucho más de lo que sus afirmaciones políticas, encerradas en la lógica de su vocabulario, podrían dejar entrever. Así pues, la antropología mimética antes incluso de desembocar en su teoría social, contiene importantes insinuaciones que afectan al espacio político. Es preciso explicitar dichas insinuaciones y traducirlas en el nivel correspondiente. En este trabajo, sobresale el diálogo fallido entre René Girard y Marcel Gauchet, rescatado gracias a la inestimable reflexión contenida en la obra monumental, y recientemente publicada, Le symbolique et le Sacré del sociólogo francés de las religiones Camille Tarot. Gracias a este encuentro girardo-gauchetiano emergerá la idea de la función pharmakológica del poder, puente de singular importancia para restablecer las comunicaciones entre lo sagrado y lo político. Además, todas estas reflexiones no pueden dejar de plantearse la revolución producida en el ámbito de la política de una modernidad fecundada por el logos evangélico.

Undoubtedly, the embryo of an anthropology and a political theory can be found in Girard’s works. However, their exact developments are conspicuously absent. In Girard’s thought is far deeper than the mere enumeration of his political ideas restricted as they are by the inner logic of his vocabulary. In fact, Mimetic anthropology, even before constituted in a social theory, is full of important nuances concerning the public square. It is necessary to point to this nuances and to make them intelligible. In this work, it is worth noting the failed dialogue between René Girard and Marcel Gauchet, rescued thanks to the invaluable reflection offered in the monumental and recently published work, Le symbolique et le Sacré, by the French sociologist of religion Camille Tarot. As a result of this meeting between Girardism-Gauchetism, the idea of the sacred function of power will emerge, a bridge of utmost importance to re-establish communications between the sacred and the political. In addition, all these reflections cannot refrain from considering the revolution produced in the political area of a modernity nourished by the evangelical logos.
