| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | This article compares the meaning of the Spanish verb “ir” and its Polish equivalents. The author begins by identifying the prototype scenes described by Spanish and Polish, and shows that both languages focus on different aspects of movement. Spanish “ir” is a rather general verb meaning any kind of movement. Polish, on the other hand, specifies whether that movement is carried out with the help of feet (and therefore “iść” [single action] / “chodzić” [repeated action] are used) or of some means of transport, though not necessarily a specified one (in which case “jechać” [single action] / “jeździć” [repeated action] are used instead). | es_ES |
