The tops of church steeples and civil towers in German architecture, in the three hundred years between 1450 and 1750, are an important part of Central European visual culture. Such importance is explained not only by the originality, grace and mastery in the handling of some compositions that are couched in a homogeneous culture, but also because they point out characteristic landmarks in the landscape, which was becoming an identification of one and another area. |
