The aim of this article is to offer a new approach to the landing of the Almoravid army in the Iberian Peninsula. After having analysed the embassies exchanged between andalusies and almoravids in the period 1075-1110 and the external policy of the almoravids towards al-Andalus we offer an explanation based on economic and monetary issues of the landing of the North Africans in al-Andalus. We discuss the events happened before Sagrajas, the battle, the siege of Aledo, the dethronement of the southern taifa kings and the relations with the hudi kingdom of Zaragoza until its collapse in 1110. We have reached the conclusion that the almoravids tried to establish a paria structure like the one which gave profit to the Christian Kingdoms but they decided to annex the territory instead, putting it under its direct government.
