Marruecos, catalizador de un nuevo concepto del nacionalismo español

Abstract

Este trabajo trata el modo en que la narrativa española antibélica, partiendo de la experiencia vital de la mayoría de sus autores en el Norte de África, pone en tela de juicio aquellos valores caducos inmanentes al concepto tradicional de España. Bajo el prisma y el dictamen del fracaso colonial en el Rif, los protagonistas de esa tendencia narrativa se proyectaron hacia la construcción de una nueva definición de la identidad nacional española y, por tanto, de una nueva sociedad. Así, tuvieron en común el deseo de despojar la idiosincrasia de su país de aquellos residuos acumulados en torno a la España mítica para forjar una realidad radicalmente nueva que rompiese definitivamente con la visión heredada de períodos anteriores.

This paper deals with the way in which the Spanish anti-war narrative, as seen in the real-life experience of most of its authors in North Africa, calls into question the outdated values of the traditional image of Spain. Through the looking glass of Spain’s colonial failure in the Rif and its dictates, the protagonists of this trend set out to construct a new definition of the Spanish national identity and, therewith, of a new society. What they had in common was the desire to rid the image of their country of the residues accumulated around the mythical Spain in order to forge a radically new reality that would once and for all break with the vision inherited from the past.
