This article develops a part of the story about the formation of the iconography of the Immaculate Conception from its image of devotion to the plastic concretization of a vision. The image / vision relationship will be approached from three different points of view. The first is like Spanish painting of the Golden Age, the second refers to the role played by the painted or engraved image, in the dissemination of mystical visions in the New World and the third proposes to analyze the survival of the vision / image relationship in the vernacular art of Latin America. |
