Resumen: | El objetivo fue analizar las diferencias, en función del género, de las formas de motivación auto-determinada y de las necesidades psicológicas básicas de deportistas veteranos. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 320 deportistas veteranos portugueses de ambos géneros, entre 30 y 60 años (M=44 DT=8.6), de varios deportes. Como instrumentos de medida se utilizaron el “Behavioral Regulation in Sport Questionnaire” (BRSQ) y la “Basic Psychological Needs Exercise Scale” (BPNES). El análisis de datos reveló que no existían diferencias significativas en cuanto a las formas de motivación auto-determinada, mostrando los deportistas masculinos valores más elevados de amotivación, regulación introyectada y motivación intrínseca. Por su parte, las deportistas femeninas mostraron diferencias significativas a su favor, en cuanto a la satisfacción de las necesidades psicológicas básicas. Este estudio se presenta como un aporte a la comprensión del papel del deporte en la promoción del bienestar de los deportistas
Veteranos y pone de manifiesto la necesidad de aumentar la satisfacción de necesidades psicológicas básicas de los veteranos varones. The aim of the study was to analyze the differences in gender of self-determined motivation and basic psychological needs of veteran athletes. The study sample consisted of 320 Portuguese veteran athletes of both sexes, aged between 30 and 60 years (M=44 SD=8.6), competing in various sports. Measuring instruments used were the Behavioral Regulation in Sport Questionnaire (BRSQ) and the Basic Psychological Needs Scale Exercise (BPNES). Data analysis revealed that there were no significant differences in self-determined motivation, with male athletes showing higher values of a motivation, introjected regulation and intrinsic motivation. Female athletes presented significant differences in their favor in relation to the satisfaction of basic psychological needs. This study presents itself as a contribution to the understanding of sports role in the wellbeing of veteran population, and highlights the need to increase the satisfaction of the basic psychological needs of veteran male athletes. |
