Los verbos t'n y 'rr en las inscripciones dadaníticas

Abstract

En las inscripciones dadaníticas (dialecto nordarábigo antiguo) aparecen los verbos “t.‘n” y “ ‘rr” interpretados de diferentes formas o de manera errónea, por lo que no aportan ningún sentido lógico al contexto donde se hayan. Para el verbo “t.‘n”, no se han tenido en cuenta las posibles realizaciones fonéticas del fonema /t./. En cuanto al verbo “ ‘rr”, interpretado por A. Jaussen y R. Savignac y W. Caskel como nombre propio, es considerado por otros autores como una forma verbal. El objetivo fundamental del presente trabajo es fijar la etimología y lo que se considera la traducción idónea de estos dos verbos a partir de una lectura correcta de las inscripciones y de una comparación con otras lenguas semíticas, y no sólo con el árabe como es costumbre hacer con el dialecto dadanítico.

The verbs “t.‘n” and “ ‘rr” appear in inscriptions in Dadanitic (an Ancient North Arabian dialect). Both verbs have been interpreted in different —and often incorrect— ways. As a result, their translation provides an illogical meaning to the context where they appear. In the case of the verb “t.‘n”, the possible realizations of phonetic phoneme /t./ have not been taken into account. The verb “ ‘rr” has been translated by A. Jaussen and R. Savignac and W. Caskel as a personal name. Nevertheless, other authors consider it as a verb. The main purpose of the present article is to set the etymology and a suitable translation of these two terms based on a correct reading of the inscriptions and a comparison with other Semitic languages and not just with Arabic as is customary to do with the Dadanitic dialect.
