Epiléptico: la ascensión del Gran Mal. Un acercamiento a la autoficción a través de la novela gráfica europea

Abstract

En este artículo realizamos un análisis de los componentes autoficcionales de la novela gráfica Epiléptico: la ascensión del Gran Mal, de David B. (2001-2007). Tras encuadrar teóricamente el concepto de autoficción, en atención al doble código lingüístico y pictórico de la obra escogida, estudiamos el proceso de construcción del yo llevado a cabo por el autor francés. Para ello nos servimos de varias tipologías de análisis narratológico multiperspectivista, así como de los factores epistemológicos e icónicos por los que se potencia la carga empática de la caricatura frente a otro tipo de representaciones. Desde esta base pretendemos demostrar, a través del ejemplo de Epiléptico, cómo las herramientas narrativas del lenguaje del cómic enriquecen las vías de expresión ficcional del yo.

In this paper we study the autofictional elements in the graphic novel Epileptic, by David B. (2001-2007). First, we will attend to the pictoric and linguistic code of comic language, and to the multiple definitions of the concept of autofiction, in order to analyse the process of self-construction made by this French author. We will use some typologies of narratologic analysis of multiple perspectives, and characterizations of the cartoon as a way of empathic connection between the author and the reader. Our objective will be to prove, from the example of Epileptic, how the narrative characteristics of comic language allow new ways for the artistic development of the self-expression.
