Jerez de los Caballeros a finales del siglo XVIII. Aproximación metodológica a partir de la información del Interrogatorio de la Real Audiencia

Abstract

Con la creación de la Real Audiencia de Extremadura en 1790, se ve la necesidad de obtener noticias del territorio sobre el que dicho organismo ejercerá su jurisdicción. Con este fin se realizarán “visitas” a los distintos partidos del espacio extremeño por funcionarios de tal organismo. Para ello se elabora un Interrogatorio compuesto por 57 preguntas que han de ser contestadas por «las justicias, párrocos, ayuntamientos y personas particulares de los pueblos integrados en cada partido de la Provincia de Extremadura».

With the establishment of the Royal Audience of Extremadura in 1790, one sees the need to obtain news of the territory over which said organism will exercise its jurisdiction. To this objective, "visits" will be made to the different parties in the province by officials of that organization. For this it is created an Interrogatory which consists of 57 questions that have to be answered by «the justices, parish priests, town councils and individuals of the peoples integrated in each party of the Province of Extremadura».
