La metalurgia en el segundo milenio a.C. extremeño: apuntes para una reflexión preliminar

Abstract

La imagen de efervescencia cultural, íntimamente ligada al desarrollo de la producción y los mercados del metal, que de la primera etapa de nuestra protohistoria regional se nos dibuja en “El Bronce Final y el Período Orientalizante en Extremadura” (Almagro Gorbea, 1977), ha permanecido hasta fechas bien recientes huérfana de la más mínima referencia que permitiera su contrastación con las producciones metálicas del Bronce Pleno. Sin que en el momento presente pueda decirse que exista un marco idóneo de conocimientos que permita realizar dicha maniobra, lo cierto es que nos parece saludable, aún siendo conscientes de las enormes limitaciones que presenta este estudio, proponer un acercamiento a la metalurgia extremeña del II milenio a.C. a fin de evaluarla en su integración cultural. Lejos está de nuestro objetivo, pues, de profundizar en los aspectos tecnológicos, tarea que queda para los especialistas en la materia.

The image of cultural effervescence, intimately linked to the development of metal production and markets, which from the first stage of our regional protohistory is drawn to us in "The Final Bronze and the Orientalizing Period in Extremadura" (Almagro Gorbea, 1977), has remained until very recent dates orphan of the slightest reference that would allow its contrast with the metallic productions of the Full Bronze. Without that in the present moment it can be said that there is a suitable framework of knowledge that allows to carry out this maneuver, the certain thing is that it seems healthy, even being aware of the enormous limitations that this study presents, proposing an approach to the metallurgy from Extremadura in the II millennium B.C. in order to evaluate it in its cultural integration. Far from our goal, then, to deepen the technological aspects, task that remains for specialists in the field.
